Speaking with James Hibberd for his behind-the-scenes, oral history book, Fire Cannot Kill A Dragon, which details the creative process behind Game of Thrones' eight seasons, series director Jeremy Podeswa recalled the moment Clarke returned to set, ready to deliver her improvised Valyrian execution orders. However, having spent so much time learning to correctly speak Valyrian and Dothraki during her time on the show, Clarke was so familiar with the languages that she was able to improvise the monologue herself after only 10 minutes of preparation. Normally, any sort of dialogue in Valyrian or Dothraki would take some time to rehearse, with input and guidance from the show's resident linguist, David Peterson. During Season 5 of Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke's Daenerys Targaryen delivered a Valyrian monologue that issued a Meereenese nobleman's execution.
